At church we are often reminded of the importance of being spiritually fit for God, by doing things like reading the Bible, praying and acting out of the spirit.
To be fit for God’s purpose we need to be both physically and spiritually fit. Body, mind and spirit are essentially inter-connected. We need to become physically fit by hitting our earthly gym.
We need to become spiritually fit by hitting the Lord's heavenly gym.
“Whatever we do, we do for the glory of God. We were created and formed by God to glorify him.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
We do that when we care for our bodies and live a healthy lifestyle. We are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10), created to do the good things that he planned for us long ago.
The more fit and healthy we are, the more energy we will have to do the things God wants us to do.
Worship comes from “worth”. It is the worth you give to God. Worship is not just singing and praying and exercising to God. Worship is a life choice, a life style. It means doing everything for Gods glory.
Worship moves God. Maybe you feel that getting fit for His purpose is too big a task for you. But remember, with God all things are possible.
How can you love your neighbour, if you do not love yourself?
Are you loving yourself, if you don’t exercise, if you over-eat or under-eat, if you don't care fully for the body that God has gifted you.
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
See it, believe it and make it so!
